At Boys & Girls Homes, the staff strives to provide the best care possible for their children. In their residential program of care, children are placed in a safe and secure environment that gives them an opportunity to heal and develop. Through community-based services, children are given an opportunity to begin the healing process with a family who cares for them.
The mission of Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina is to provide residential and foster care/adoption programs for neglected, abused, and hurting children that emphasize academic and Christian education to address their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs in a homelike, Christian setting.
Education is a key ingredient in developing Physical fitness, character, knowledge and a sense of community service.
Thomas Academy is a North Carolina Public Charter School that educates middle and high school aged youth. While residents of B&GH attend Thomas Academy during their stay, the school is also open for public enrollment.
Thomas Academy opened in 2013 under the name Flemington Academy. The name change to Thomas Academy took place in December 2016 in recognition of the strong support of education provided by the Thomas family as led by David and Grace Thomas.
Students of Thomas have the opportunity to participate in athletics, student government, and various service clubs. The motto is “Helping students find Connection, Compassion, and Character”.
Boys & Girls Homes has chosen Hooks Systems of Wilmington and Myrtle Beach to provide 24 x 7 monitoring and help desk support for their computer network.
