. Dr. Hormoze Goudarzi has had extensive experience in the laser treatment of varicose veins and has been involved with micro-invasive treatment of vascular disease. All of these procedures are done in an office setting under local anesthesia (affecting only the area being worked on). Patients walk in for the procedure and are able to walk out after the procedure. The average time is approximately one hour, depending on the amount of varicose veins and the severity of damage.
In 1981, Dr. Goudarzi moved to the United States where he was chief resident in surgery at New Hanover Regional Medical Center – Area Health Education Center. He became an instructor in surgery from 1982 to 1984. He became a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery in 1985, the Fellow of American College of Surgeons in 1987, was recertified in the American Board of Surgery in 1995, and again in 2004. He was involved in surgical education as the ‘Clinical Associate Professor’ at the University of North Carolina and has been awarded by the New Hanover Regional Medical Center – Area Health Education Center as ‘Professor of the Year’ in 1986, 1988, and 1989.
He is one of the pioneers in laparoscopic surgery and has been one of the early publishers of the laparoscopic repair of incisional hernia, as well as laparoscopic assisted colorectal surgery.His present practice involves general, thoracic, endocrine, and oncologic surgery, as well as laparoscopy and micro-invasive treatment of arterial and venous systems, laparoscopic repair of hiatal hernia, and all other abdominal, incisional, and inguinal hernias.
