It all began in 1962 with a metal dog dish, a case
of insomnia, and a man who really loved to tinker.
Jim Buckwalter’s ingenious invention masked sounds that kept him awake at night. It was quite simple: a turntable motor and a small fan blade inside a dog bowl encased in a disc of foam-covered wood. Jim’s device created a deeply soothing sound from rushing air. It also helped people sleep like never before.
Word got out, and soon Jim’s friends and family were asking for his sleep machines. A little company was born. And it soon turned into a bigger company. That’s how the original Marpac SleepMate eventually became the current Dohm.
The folks at Marpac are inventors and build things right. And they build them right here in the USA. Since 1962, their high-quality sound conditioners have been known for exceptional audio, ease of use, and durability. Marpac says that they have one goal: to bring serious sleep to millions of people. To do that, they have to be dedicated to customer service.
To keep their technology at the level necessary to support their customer’s orders from such Mega-Stores as Amazon and Bed, Bath & Beyond, Marpac teamed up with their It provider, Hooks Systems of Wilmington. In addition to upgrading the Marpac infrastruture at the new Marpac facility in Wilmington, Hooks Systems installed a powerful 64-bit server, firewall security and a high speed wireless network throughout the plant.
Hooks Systems also provides their Service-Marked It RemoteCare services which includes 24 x 7 monitoring and remote administration of the entire network at Marpac. Instant Help desk support is also provided to the Marpac users.
